I have had a few discussions lately revolving around 'Aging in Place'. Remodelers enjoy remodeling recently purchased homes and adding additions and high-end kitchens and baths, you know, the sexy stuff. But today nearly 50% of all expenditures for remodeling is made by the 55+ age group.
Last summer the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University released a paper titled 'Aging in Place: Implications for Remodeling' authored by Abbe Will. This paper is long and full of detail, but after you read it, you will certainly be chasing a new market of customers. Read the full paper here.
